Tests
Laboratory of fire resistance
The task of the Fire Resistance laboratory is to determine the time during which a complete construction element is capable of preserving its function, whether it deals with its bearing capacity, integrity, thermal insulation, leakproofness or a combination of several of the above, when it is subjected to either standardized or protocol pressure and temperature conditions.
In the field of civil construction, the test allows obtaining the fire resistance euroclass for construction elements in accordance with RD 842/2013, which approves the classification of construction products and building elements depending on its reaction and resistance to fire properties.
In the field of shipbuilding, the test allows obtaining the fire resistance classification as defined in the International Code for the application of fire exposure test procedures, PEF code of the Maritime Safety Committee. It also enables to determine the resistance of railway vehicle fire barriers.
AFITI is accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) and recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for conducting tests according to a great number of standards; which enables our clients to provide proof of compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements; which, in Spain, are defined in the Technical Building Code, CTE (RD 314/2006) and in the Regulation on Fire Safety in Industrial Establishments, RSCIEI (RD 2267/2004).
Moreover, AFITI is recognized by other foreign organizations and entities for the entry into the international market.
In addition to the standardized tests included in our scope of accreditation, AFITI Fire Resistance laboratory designs and executes specific test protocols tailored to the specific needs of its clients.
