More than 35 years working with fire

AFITI

The Spanish Association for the Promotion of Research and Fire Safety Technology “AFITI” is constituted as a non-profit association, under the Law 191/1964, via founding act of March 27, 1987.

AFITI was born with the aim of managing the LICOF Centre for Fire Testing and Research, the official fire testing laboratory of the Ministry of Industry established in 1975. Over the years it has evolved, expanding its range of services, giving rise to what is AFITI today: a benchmark in the area of fire safety in Spain.

Currently AFITI complements the testing activities offered by its laboratories with inspection, certification, training activities and support to the public and private entities in the development of standards, procedures and regulations; as well as other services related to fire protection carried out through its collaborating entities. For that purpose, it relies on three independent areas: LICOF laboratories (passive and active fire protection), the Certification and Inspection department and the Technological Services Department.

AFITI is Notified Body approved by the European Commission (system 3) for granting the CE marking of construction elements and materials in compliance with the Construction Products Regulation No. 305/2011.

Our accreditations and recognitions allow our clients to justify their compliance with regulations. See our accreditation annex.
